First Ever Trekking Adventure in Osmeña Peak at Dalaguete, Cebu

Osmeña Peak is known as the highest peak in Cebu. It is a very popular trekking destination for locals. Even trekking enthusiasts from other provinces visit Cebu to experience the beauty of nature the place shows.

It was November last year when I first got interested in Osmeña Peak. I then made quick research of the place and I found many good reviews and comments of fellow bloggers based on their experience. I'd like to try trekking and experience the place at that time but I don't have any companion to do the adventure. It would be very lonely going on a trekking adventure alone in a secluded place, right?

January 2014 when a friend of mine told me that she and her barkadas have plans made for O'Peak adventure. I automatically ask if I can join them in their little adventure because I have listed Osmeña Peak and Obong Spring as the first and second items in TFN Bucket List 2014, which means I can accomplish two items in the bucket list if they allow me to join. Good thing! An outsider is welcome in their group (^_^ happy face).

Here's the little plan for Dalaguete adventure:

21 Feb '14 - We will be heading Dalaguete, Cebu around 9PM. We will be staying overnight in the house of my friend's friend's boyfriend.

22 Feb '14 - Early in the morning, maybe around 4AM if we wake up early, we'll be heading Osmeña Peak. In the afternoon, we'll have a nice cold swim in Obong Spring and go home to Cebu City in the evening.

It's the O'Peak out there. Nice view huh?

On the day of our trip, I got home from work around 5:30PM; I've packed my things and got ready to go to South Bus Terminal where we will be boarding a bus going to Dalaguete, Cebu. It was quarter to 10PM when our group boarded a bus bound for Alcoy, Cebu, the town next to Dalaguete. We arrived in Poblacion, Dalaguete pass 12AM.

Woke up around 5AM, got ready for our little trekking adventure early in the morning though the plan is we're going ahead in the place at 4AM but maybe we're just tired of the late-night bus trip to Dalaguete. But it's okay, we have the whole day to spend.

We rode a habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) going to Mantalungon, Dalaguete where O'Peak is situated. More or less 40 minutes travel time. And started trekking where the habal-habal dropped us going to the peak. It's just a short trek, more or less 30 minutes of walking narrow trails.

The view you can see in the surrounding of the O'Peak.
The view in the right side of the peak.

Midway to the right.

The view is on the left side of the peak.

Now it's time for solo and group photos!

Strangers before, now adventure buddies!

These people are good company, thanks!

Wondering if I go trekking again here traverse Kawasan Falls. ^^

It's a very great experience we have there in Osmeña Peak. I'd be willing to go there again if there's time. And I'll try the longer trekking this time.

I'd like to thank Honey and her friends for letting me and my baby join their trip. Thanks, guys! Till next time!

    1. Yes, overnight camping is allowed. Actually you can follow the trail or just ask the motorcycle driver you've hired where to start and you'll find your way there. ^^

    1. Yes it's ok as long as the weather is great and you are there to support in case the kid is exhausted walking. It really depends to you. ^^

    1. Baba lang kayo sa Dalaguete proper, motorcycle for hire are waiting for tourist going to the peak there. Walang tour guide but you can ask a kid from there to accompany you going to the peak. Just do give a tip after the trek. 500 pesos will be enough back and forth from Cebu City, excluding your food.

  8. Hi. Is the road safe, especially when riding a habal-habal? My friends and I are planning to go there tomorrow but I heard a feedback from my mom's friend that it was dangerous.

    1. Hello Zyra, the road is fine and it's not rainy season so the roads are dry, there's nothing to worry. You know sometimes people say the exaggeration when thinking about safety. Go girl!

  10. Hi po..ask lang po kung magkano pamasahe from s.bus cebu to dalaguete?including habalhabal...ksi po sabi nyo sa comment 500 ok na back n forth.

    1. Hi Nel! Yes, kung pamasahe lang kasya na yung 500. Let's say 120pesos from cebu city to dalaguete and 100pesos for the habal2x fare. That's a total of 220 pesos one way, double that for your whole trip and it won't reach 500 pesos. Good day!
